Church Christmas Party

On our way! (Boys' first time to be in childcare during a church party!)
All decked out in Christmas shirts!

I brought ranch green beans and my new favorite pumpkin recipe !
Pumpkin Earthquake Cake
(adapted from HERE)
1 box of white cake mix (you DO NOT need the ingredients on the box)
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 15 oz can of pumpkin puree
1/2 C butter
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
2 C powdered sugar
3/4 C butterscotch chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease a 9 x 13" pan.
Melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove top.
Mix in the softened cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
Stir in the butterscotch chips; set aside.
Mix the cake mix, pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree together.
Pour into the prepared pan. Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture onto the batter.Take a butter knife and swirl the cream cheese mixture into the batter.Bake for 40-45 minutes.  Allow to cool.
After the ham dinner pitch-in, we listened to a devotional, then let the Pastor's son pick a game....
He called it "black lung" and it was (in the words of our deacon's mom) "the dumbest game I've ever seen". We went around the circle, and whoever had the best wheezy, smoker-like cough, wins! Some people strained so hard, I thought they were going to poop in their chair!

Thanks to my phlegmy coughs and lingering congestion (like a fuzzy cloud has parked in my throat), I won 1.00! (In your face E.T.!)

"Upset the fruit basket" game- I sat this one out- Can't sing, can't run!

Best gifts of the night- a toilet mug and this bag of  fish and chips!!
Eric opened a big, fuzzy blanket,
but traded it for a Bengals themed gift.
I ended up with a car reindeer kit and a different fuzzy blanket. While we were watching someone on the other side of the circle try (and fail) to balance on only two legs of their chair, Greg F. said to E, "Man, did we ever act like that when we were that young?" He was very surprised to find out that E is the exact same age as the chair tipper! (Not sure why everyone thinks we are so old...while we were getting our drinks, the children's pastor asked if I was in Pastor Roger's class, which has a minimum age of 45!!!)

What a fun night!
