Fun Food, Fellowship and Fireworks!

First Day of School Breakfast- super early so as not to sugar them up on the actual day!

pencil waffles

A yard sale game (while E was out visiting Dave and Shaunette in the hospital and picking out Nuna's headstone with Kari.) B smoked us, big time!
I spent the rest of the afternoon making this:

SLOW COOKER CORN and JALAPENO DIP
3 (15 oz) cans whole kernel corn (2 bags frozen??)
1 jalapeno, seeded and diced (Possibly try the corn with jalapenos already in it?)
5 slices bacon, cooked and diced
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (use green lidded container)
salt and pepper to taste
6oz cream cheese, cubed
2 TB chopped chives

Place corn, jalapenos, sour cream, pepper jack cheese and parmesan into slow cooker, season with salt and pepper. Stir. Top with cream cheese.
Cover and cook on lowest setting for 2+ hours.
While it is cooking, lay raw bacon on foil lined baking sheet. Place in oven, turn oven to 400, set timer for 16 minutes. (Or just fry in skillet over medium high heat 6-8 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Uncover slow cooker, and stir until cream cheese is well combined. Cover and cook on high for an additional 15 minutes. Garnish with bacon and chives, serve immediately.

and cheeseburger cupcakes for our Sunday School class's get-together that night at the Fergusons....
it was a dangerous job, (Ouch!)
but well worth it!
Kids loved them,
(When a mom saw her kid walk through with his second little Debbie snack, she asked him if he ate any real food.
He answered, "Yes, a cheeseburger." !! )
and then the party host hid the cupcakes all around his kitchen so he could make sure he got to eat them! ha ha
We ate, played outside (even me and W! Yay for badminton!)
and after the brief rain shower, played games and talked in the garage. (The adults did, the kids played video games and watched Harry Potter!)
Poor Brian lost twice. All he wanted was to play Monopoly!
We left just in time to make it to the Jungle Jim's fireworks (the same ones the boys and I watched when E was at the land last year).

A great day!
